There were several things in life Mike always wanted to be:
Football player: Mike played college football at Arkansas State University and was on the team that won the Southland Conference Championship title in 1975.

Police Officer: Mike served on the Dallas Police Department for over 30 years, earning many accolades: Medal of Valor, Friends of the DPA December “Cops Cop,” Northwest Operations Officer of the Year 2nd watch, recognized by the FBI and SWACHA as Officer of the Year for apprehending bank robbery suspects, and the Police Shield for recognition of unselfish devotion and sustaining serious injury.

Cowboy: Early in life and true to cowboy form, Mike tried his hand at bull riding. After retiring from the Police Department, he and his wife Jennifer bought a ranch, where Mike lived his cowboy dream of having horses and cultivating his love of team roping.

Mike got his greatest joy in life, though, being Dad to his 4 sons and Pawpaw to his 4 grandchildren.

When Mike wasn’t spending time on horseback, he was playing golf. He’d play regularly with his friends (achieved the lifetime golf goal of a hole-in-one) and got involved with the Tee Up to CURE ALS golf tournament and rallied Hub’s Herd to help raise funds for ALS, the disease that eventually took his life at the age of 67.

Mike is missed by his wife, Jennifer; sons Zach (Amanda), Kent (Ashley), Cole (Victoria), and Chase (Hannah); his grandchildren Anna-Claire, Zayne, Kylee, and Austin; his sisters Ronwyn Hubner (Adam Trevino) and Pam Neese (Wes); close cousins Wayne Babin (Darlene) and Barry Adriance; nephew David Stoner; niece Amanda Stoldt; many friends and neighbors; and his brothers in blue.
Donations made in memory of Mike Hubner will be used to fund ALS research.
