ALS Nexus Conference 2024

CURE ALS was in attendance at the ALS Nexus 2024 Conference coordinated by The ALS Association, where participants were given the valued opportunity to hear researchers and experts in the ALS world talk about the advances in ALS research and ways to overcome the effects of the disease. The tabs below provide a summary of our experience at the ALS NEXUS Conference in person and virtually. 

THE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE and ITS BENEFITS TO RESEARCH
Back in the 90’s, there were only a handful of people studying ALS. Today, research is a global effort, and so much more about the disease is known. In large part, this is due to the Ice Bucket Challenge of 2014.

The support resulting from the funds raised was extremely important in developing and furthering research.

The Ice Bucket Challenge brought awareness throughout the world about the disease and the necessity for research. The Challenge attracted so many more brilliant scientists to the field, which meant there were more viewpoints about the disease, more ideas to work on, and more people to help to further those ideas and move them into clinical trials.

Now … 10 years later … it’s time to bring back the Ice Bucket Challenge!!!!! On August 10, The ALS Association will be kicking off the 10th anniversary of that pivotal grassroots phenomenon! Paul and Kathy Tavano will be posting their Challenges … keep an eye out!!!
